Rehabilitation Management for the Wrist and HandCourse OutlineThis two-day intermediate level course focuses
on current surgical procedures and therapeutic management for
disorders of the wrist, hand and upper extremity. Post-operative
complications and rehabilitation protocols for flexor and extensor
tendon injuries, arthritis, compartment syndromes and compression
neuropathies are discussed in detail. Special emphasis is placed
on the evaluation of the cervical spine and shoulder complex
in order for the therapist to better manage cumulative trauma,
compression neuropathies and peripheral nerve injuries. Wound
management and infections are discussed to assist the therapist
in determining an appropriate treatment plan and progression.
The impact of pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplementation
on healing time of injuries is also reviewed; this will enhance
the clinician’s ability to incorporate the findings into
their rehabilitation program. This in-depth presentation prepares the medical professional to identify effective rehabilitation procedures for safe therapeutic management for positive functional outcomes. This course is enhanced with the use of surgical and anatomical images and is designed for therapists with basic to intermediate knowledge of wrist and hand anatomy and terminology. Course Objectives • Describe the detailed aspects of the anatomy and biomechanics
